It’s actually about time for the next issue of Sound Business, but there’s currently too little to report to fill the usual amount of space.

But in this heat, something light is a bit more palatable anyway. So today, there’s not much news, just a few reading and listening recommendations. Plus an ‘amusing’ update on our own behalf.

P.S. On Friday, I will attend SUISA - Money Talks: Financing a Modern Music Career at Zurich Music Week. If you're there as well, let's have a chat.

Nominees of ZKB Jazzpreis announced

From around 40 entries, six groups were selected to represent the diversity and quality of the young Swiss jazz scene. This year’s line-up comprises the Ulysse Loup Large Ensemble, Rufus D, Espuma Antigua, the Driftwood Quartet, muralim, and HOLD. The nominated bands come from all over Switzerland and, as the press states, "are characterised by their own distinctive sound and an original approach to jazz."

They will be judged by an international jury, which this year comprises the musicians Joëlle Léandre and Lucia Cadotsch, the music journalist Fiona Ross, the Swiss booker Kate Espasandin, and Christian Gamp as the audience representative.
