This time of year is always a little too exhausting, marching along to the relentless pounding of a packed schedule. There’s barely time to catch my breath, and creativity lies buried deep beneath all those to-dos.
The grey veil that stretches across the landscape obscures the light on the horizon. Still, I know: somewhere out there, the sun’s shining nonetheless. Even if it’s only a blue flame of hope glimmering across the pond.
But enough of the melodrama. Occasionally, something good lurks in the fog—or at least that was the lasting impression our reporter, Désirée Bichsel, took away from The Sisters of Mercy’s shrouded concert. She writes: “Even the long queue couldn’t dampen the high spirits (quite unusual for goths, perhaps?) or the post-concert afterglow, with someone somewhere always singing ‘Hey now, hey now now...’.”

Matthew Gault wrote an excellent post-Midterms analysis for 404 Media about the platform formerly known as Twitter, connecting the dots between reality and online culture. “It turns out you can’t post Malfoids and Anakin when diesel is $6 a gallon and expect America to vote for you.”
A Taste from the Archive: The Murmur by Tamara Qaddoumi
Featured last year, Tamara Qaddoumi’s haunting, sinister soundscape is perfectly fitting for the fall. The Murmur echoes in the deep bass, like smoke, taking on new shapes until it flows into a marching groove. Hypnotic, dark, but captivating.
