Making the decision takes courage; it’s a feat of strength. But Minru celebrates liberation with an intense fragility rather than monumental opulence. It’s a breath of warm music, the sonic opposite of the cold weight of indecision. The acoustic guitar and viola blend into a light-flooded stream with Minru’s whispered hopefulness.

Written in her family’s cabin in the Swedish mountains, where the sun in summer never sets, surrounded by pine trees, rippling creeks and swarms of mosquitoes, Caroline Blomqvist wrote Dearest Life. She recalls:
„I spent my days playing guitar, hiking, and sipping coffee on the terrace. I had been feeling stuck for a while, unable to make a decision or take a step toward change. But something about being in that place, surrounded by so much quiet, brought me back to a long-lost sense of freedom, and with it, a flow.
One day, while mindlessly jamming on my guitar, this song just fell into place, as if it had been waiting for me to find it. The version on the album is the very first take I recorded during those simple, mountain days. Only the strings and piano were added later.”
Blomqvist’s project Minru was conceived after she moved from Gothenburg to Berlin and toured Germany as a guitarist. Her debut album, Liminality, was released in 2022. With Dearest Life, Minru lights the way to the next album, Thin Places, and offers a more reduced, raw, and radically intimate yet ethereal folk sound.
Dearest Life proves that emotional intensity doesn’t necessarily come from grandiose gestures, escalating arrangements, or loudness. Minru pulls you ever closer, whispers in your ear and pierces straight through the soul.
